From roofing to siding, Elk River Exteriors has been in the business of having customers – and their homes – covered since 1984. The family business, today owned by Steve and Lisa Gracik, is celebrating its 40th year of providing service in central Minnesota.

“It’s a cool milestone for sure,” Steve said, noting that it’s been 20 years since purchasing the business from his brother and sister-in-law.

The Graciks work with their staff of four employees, which includes children Dylan Gracik and Shelby Dusbabek, to provide quality workmanship and friendly customer service. “With subcontractors, we can handle three roofs at a time, 6-7 siding jobs at the same time [and] handle all the window installations,” Steve said. “We can do it all,” Dusbabek added. “We do interior work all the way to additions – decks to pole barns – to 100+ window jobs. … We are a one-stop shop.”

Speaking of pole barns, the office of Elk River Exteriors has been based out of one since 2018. The business moved from its downtown Elk River location into a pole barn in Zimmerman that had been previously owned by Leighton Motorsports.

“They had built in living corridors into the pole barn that turned out to be a perfect fit for our office space. … We bought in fall of 2017 and over the winter had finished off the office space and got everything transferred up to Zimmerman,” Dusbabek said.

While the office address changed, the work remained steady. According to the team at Elk River Exteriors, they treat every job as if it were their own house. The business even offers free estimates so that customers can find the best options for their budget.

“We do roofing, windows, siding, soffit and fascia, decks, gutters, remodeling, additions or garages/pole barns,” Lisa said. And when a bad storm rolls through town – like the one that brought strong winds and hail in the summer of 2022 – the business is there to handle damage restoration work through insurance companies.

“We have tarped dozens of roofs over the years due to trees, wind damage or other issues that could cause further damage to the homeowner if not addressed immediately,” employee Ben Beseman said. “Broken windows are also treated as emergency to prevent security concerns for homeowners.”

According to Dusbabek, Elk River Exteriors strives to be there for the community because the community has been there for the business these past 40 years. “[We’re] grateful we have been able to be around this long,” she said. “We get a lot of our work through word of mouth and satisfied customers, so we wouldn’t get a lot of the business today without them.”

Elk River Exteriors is located at 11230 276th Ave. in Zimmerman. For more information, call 763-441-7240 or visit elkriverexteriors.com.
